A Life Well-Lived

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to live a life well-lived.
I want to create a life that is purpose-driven and fulfilled from the inside, not the outside…a life that feels right to me.

Now before we go and think this is a selfish way to go about it, because trust me I would have thought that too…let’s reflect.

As we grow up, we take on the opinions and thoughts of so many people in our lives whether they are friends, family members, teachers or influencers to which we hold great regard. It’s no one’s fault that we do this, it’s simply that we’re like sponges soaking up others’ life stories and experiences and putting weight and meaning to them as if they’re our own.

Sometimes it’s not until we’re in our twenties or thirties that we look around one day at the life we’ve built and we ask what it was all for? Or maybe it happens when we’re on a trip, when we get the opportunity to expand or experience things in ways we hadn’t before. We become curious to how we could go about life differently.

So then begins the undoing, the shedding of layers of teachings, expectations and stories we thought we needed to fulfill. An unearthing of our roots that we relied on as a sturdy foundation. Time to get quiet and clear out our energy, to make space to hear that little voice, our inner knowing filled with personal dreams and truths.

A time to rebuild, re-evaluate and determine how we want our life to feel from here on out. The moment we start living in our truth, is the moment we start feeling most comfortable in our own skin and showing up fully in every aspect of our lives. People take notice, our energy is contagious and things begin to shift exactly as their intended to.

To every single one of us, the meaning of a life well-lived will sound and look very different. No one answer will be right, because we are all here to serve a different purpose. I think we forget that… at least I do some days. Our stories aren’t supposed to look the same and follow a certain pattern as much as we’ve been trained to believe so!

We are all made up of different strengths and purposes that are intended to impact this world for the greater good and I guess I’m just here to say that it’s okay if your story looks different than you or they thought it would.

I think life is all about choosing what we want to give the most meaning to. Choosing a life that feels good on the inside, not just looks good on the outside. You are allowed and deserving of a life that feels true to you - don’t play small!

We don’t have control over much in this life, but what we do have control over is how we show up in the world, the energy we bring and the impact we have.

So let me ask you this, how will you ensure you live a life well-lived?

I’ve come to believe that there exists in the universe something I call “The Physics of The Quest” — a force of nature governed by laws as real as the laws of gravity or momentum. And the rule of Quest Physics maybe goes like this: “If you are brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting (which can be anything from your house to your bitter old resentments) and set out on a truth-seeking journey (either externally or internally), and if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue, and if you accept everyone you meet along the way as a teacher, and if you are prepared – most of all – to face (and forgive) some very difficult realities about yourself... then truth will not be withheld from you.” Or so I’ve come to believe.
