Anna’s: Tender Roots- A Garden Story Series
At Anna's, there is a true appreciation for not only the work that goes into a garden but the story that comes along with it. So this past Summer we wanted to help tell the stories of our community through their outdoor spaces.
Who did we look for? Passionate gardeners who wanted to share the story of their yard, from the hand-me-down plants, to what the garden has taught them over the years.
What did it look like? A short visit, and garden tour where we asked some questions, captured some photos and recorded little videos. Giving us the opportunity to invite and inspire Anna’s readers to perhaps start a garden of their own.

Garden #1: Morning Dew Farms
To arrive at the secret gardens of Morning Dew Farms, we made our way off of the county road, up a narrow drive lined with tall grasses and trees. Greeted by a mountain-high mound of fresh mulch, and Melissa’s smile, paired with the best garden attire; overalls detailed with fresh peony buds in her chest pocket, and so the garden story begins…
As we pulled up alongside Eugene & Jeffrey’s charming 1920’s home, we were greeted with a neighbourly smile and wave, that instantly made us feel like old friends who finally arrived for that long-overdue visit. Upon our first glimpse of the classic white-sided home, we knew we were in for a treat – the cozy front porch nook, dressed with curtains and paper lanterns dancing in the breeze felt like the perfect space for early morning coffee sips or late night glasses of wine…
We knew from the moment we pulled into the driveway of The Pizzuto Family home that we were in for a treat- waterfront property adorned with beautifully maintained landscaping. With Eugenia trees flanking every entrance and vibrant crimson Japanese Maples we were excited to learn more of this unique garden story…
If the blue shutters on their home or vibrant pops of colour sprinkled throughout their yard don’t give you enough insight as to the type of joy this family spreads – we don’t know what will. This garden tour offered a lovely mix of perennials, annuals bursting with colour, pollinators swarming every corner gleefully and a vegetable garden brimming with bounty.
