Soho Coffee Table: Furniture Design

School Project: Interior Design

Task: Design and Construct a piece of furniture based on AutoCAD working drawings.

Materials: Walnut & Stainless Steel

Objective: This assignment was to work through the entire design process from beginning to end with the development of a millwork package, design process booklet and a final piece of furniture. Through the design-build process, knowledge of wood types, wood joinery and the entire process of furniture making was acquired. With the idea of flat-pack in mind, no screws/bolts the challenge was to be creative in how the piece would come together. This project also gave chance to work on shop machinery and get a better grasp as to how things can be made, and all that tools that are required.
